The vineyards that we work with at Windchaser are focused in two distinct areas of California wine country, Mendocino and El Dorado. Our partnership with our trusted growers make the time on the road well worth it. It is widely agreed that starting with great grapes is key to great wine, but without the relationships we have with our talented and dedicated grape growers, we wouldn’t stand a chance. We’d like to acknowledge the early and long hours that these farmers and their crews put into their work, from which we all benefit. It is these relationships that keep the fires burning in us to improve our craft in the cellar every year.
In Mendocino, we focus on the Anderson Valley. HWY 128 leads us through winding roads and redwoods, past the town of Philo to the source of aromatic whites, like our Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer as well as our Pinot Noir. Up into the hills of the Mendocino Ridge, out one of our all time favorite road names, sits Perli vineyard, home of our mountain grown Syrah.
Two hundred miles to the east just past Placerville, Old Hangtown, you will find the source of our Grenache and Roussanne as well as smaller lots like the Malbec we made in 2017.
Each year we find new grapes to play with which will express what that vintage has to offer.
